GREAT NEWS: The public access area, formerly known as Hickory Joe’s, opened as planned for the first day of trout season, thanks to the huge effort of Mike Zenzel. For photos of the entire process, please visit our Photo Gallery.

Regular fish stocking by the club began on April 23 and should continue each Monday until sometime in June. The schedule will be published online as soon as it is finalized. As usual, volunteer help to corral and transfer the fish will be needed; and the schedule itself is subject to change. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Contact the nursery manager for more info.

June 23 signals the new season for us, since this will be the day we receive our new fingerlings for next year.

Upcoming Events:

[1] June 3 is the Fishing Creek Sportsman Association’s Children’s Fishing Derby. Registration will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Fishing will start at 1:00 PM and will continue until 2:30 PM. Children from ages 5 to 12 are invited to come out, have some fun fishing, and win a prize.

[2] June 23-23 the club will be again helping out at the Bassmaster Tournament in Berwick. Response this year has been lackluster--less than 50 have responded so far.

Work at the Eyers Grove parking lot is still in progress. The purchase of other properties has hit a dead end. One property is a definite no-go; the other may be a possible lease rather than purchase.

2012 membership cards at $10 each, buttons, and raffle tickets for the June Children’s Fishing Derby ($1 each or 7 for $5) are available for purchase at our usual locations.

A limited edition of the 2012 Fishing Creek Sportsman Association patch is available for sale for $5.00 each at club meetings or contact Jay Challingsworth. 25 will be reserved for sale at the Children’s Fishing Derby in June. Also, approximately 10 of last year’s patch are still available.

The Association’s Mission

Since 1969 the Fishing Creek Sportsman Association has been dedicated to preserving and maintaining great trout fishing on Fishing Creek and several other Columbia County waterways through the PA Fish & Boat Commission’s Cooperative Nursery Program and other related efforts. The Association consists of a group of like-minded sportsmen and conservationists concerned with the preservation of open trout waters and public fishing, primarily in Fishing Creek and its tributaries.
